The Bellekouter hall at the municipal yard of the city of Affligem will be generating clean electricity starting from January 2009. On the roof of this hall 361 pieces of high efficient Suntech STP190 solar modules have been installed. The poly crystalline silicon solar cells convert the irradiated solar light direct into green electricity. The project is a part of a larger initiative of the municipality where more green power will be generated in the regional "Pajottenland" area. The expected annual yield of the solar system is about 65.000 kWh, which is enough to cover the electricity consumption of all facilities located around the yard. The system will pay it self back within 10 years.
